I am one of the members of EMC Research China. My current research interests include personal information management and mobile information management, which addresses the question of how to adapt database techniques in a personal and mobile computing environment.

Before joining EMC, I were a Ph.D. candidate at Renmin University of China under the supervision of Prof. Xiaofeng Meng, who is the Secretary General of Database Society of the China Computer Federation (CCF DBS). I were also a primary member of the Lab of Web and Mobile Data Management (WAMDM), one of the leading database research groups in China. During that time, I led the group that designed and developed PhoneDB, a small-footprint DBMS for Lenovo mobile phones. The project was supported by the Lenovo Research Institute and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

My graduate research in the area of moving objects databases for location-based services focused on location modeling, tracking and indexing moving objects, location-aware query processing and clustering analysis of moving objects. Some research results have been published in the international conference proceedings and journals such as MDM, VLDB-workshop STDBM, DASFAA, WAIM, Journal of Computer Science and Technology (JCST), and Journal of Software.

I have held visiting research positions at the PRISM Lab of Versailles University in Paris (2005) and Hong Kong Baptist University (2006). I will be the Local Organizing Committee of the 9th International Conference on Mobile Data Management (MDM 2008), Beijing.

• !PhoneDB - A small footprint DBMS for mobile phones
  • PhoneDB is a small footprint DBMS for Lenovo Smartphone, which can efficiently manage the data of notebook, SMS, multimedia and 3G application on cell phones.
  • PhoneDB runs in the Lenovo Smartphone platform with ARM7 39M, 1.5M RAM Memory, 8M FLASH, Nucleus OS, TI FFS and is implemented by ANSI C with 100k size for code and memory.
  • Design the Key-based Data Model, Log-based Record Storage, Write Buffer and Immediate Write Logging policy for PhoneDB.

• DataImporter - a data import/export tool of KingBaseES (the national DBMS)
