Project Objective

There are two major goals for this project. The first goal is to build one demo environment for grid system based on Trusted Computing (TC) protected virtualization (Daoli). Another goal is to advance such grid technology with behavior conformity on distributed computation through one typical data intensive bioinformatics application.

Project Scope

The focus of this project is to build a grid demo system for Daoli that runs on TPM based servers, and then use it to solve data intensive grid applications for bioinformatics research. EMC Labs China and Tsinghua University agreed to carry out joint research in the following areas.

Based the successful research/development results of Daoli project, build one demonstrated system at Tsinghua. We will investigate the emerging business needs and its bottlenecks in the distributed high-performance computing, in which we see clear trend move from compute intensive type of applications to memory and data intensive applications.

Implemented one data intensive bioinformatics application in Daoli. The program will be run at different places/nodes of Daoli system. We will evaluate reliability and practicability of Daoli through such real application.
